Who Are We ?

The Grace Bible Church statement of faith

 

 

Acts 2:38-47

1. Our church believes that every lost Hell bound sinner must be GENUINELY SAVED and baptized by immersion before they can be a member (there was no infant baptism ever practiced in the Bible). Acts 2:41, 47

2. Our church desires to be known for its James 5:13-16 POWER PRAYING. We take both private and public prayer seriously. Precious time in prayer in our worship service is not just making time for a stage change. Prayer as in Luke 9:18; Acts 12:12; Ephesians 6:18; Philippians 4:6-7 and I Samuel 12:23 is one of the Believer’s highest privilege. Prayer brings Heaven to Earth. “Much Prayer, Much Power! Little Prayer, Little Power!” Then praise for prayers answered and thanksgiving testimonies will be shared openly at our services.

3. Our church aggressively teaches that EVERY BELIEVER SHOULD BE A DILIGENT LIFE-LONG STUDENT OF THE BIBLE. Having meaningful personal devotions, taking sermon notes, and studying their Sunday School lesson during the week, is our desired norm. We want our people to personally know what they believe and why they believe it. - Acts 17:11; I Peter 3:15; II Timothy 2:15 Our church honors and uses the King James Version because God has so mightily used It to reach the English speaking world since 1611. We also honor and use the N.K.J.V., the N.A.S.V., and The Amplified Bible because they give the serious Bible student some helpful insights into understanding the 21st century meaning of some old English words and phrases in the K.J.V. To really be a Bible church, we all must be serious, everyday Bible reading people! Deuteronomy 17:18-19 & Jeremiah 36:1-32

4. Our church is known as a Christ exalting, INDEPENDENT (Self-governing as a congregation with only Christ as the head of our church – Ephesians 1:18-22), FUNDAMENTAL (aggressively and exclusively holding forth all Biblical Doctrine – “The Book, The Blood and The Blessed Hope” - I Timothy 3:16) church. A church that stands firmly upon the sole authority of Holy Scriptures for faith (Belief) and practice (Behavior). II Peter 1:19-21

5. Our church teaches the DISPENSATIONAL interpretation of the Bible (Old Testament Sabbaths and Sacrifices for Israel were fulfilled in Christ at Calvary. Now New Testament Grace and Truth is for the Church today. Then in the Millennium, God’s Kingdom blessings will return to Israel.). Hebrews 1:1-2; Galatians 3:13-26; Ephesians 3:4-6; Colossians 2:16; Romans 11:1-36 Also our church teaches the LITERAL interpretation of the Bible (The BIBLE simply says what It eternally means and eternally means what It simply says!). Revelation 22:18-19 Because of this we passionately and compassionately preach that there is an eternal, literal hell for the wicked (unbelievers) and an eternal, literal heaven for the righteous (believers). Luke 16:19-31; Revelation 20:14-15

6. Our church teaches the Biblical doctrine of ETERNAL SECURITY (once genuinely saved, you cannot lose it). John 5:24 & 10:26-29; Acts 13:48; John 5:24 & 10:26-29; Ephesians 1:13,14; 4:30; II Thessalonians 2:13; Hebrews 10:39; I John 2:19 & 5:10-14; I Peter 1:1-5

7. Our church preaches PROGRESSIVE SANCTIFICATION (ever increasing in Holiness – becoming more like Christ – growing in Godliness). II Thessalonians 2:13; II Peter 1:3-10 & 3:17-18; Philippians 2:12, 13 & 3:9-14

8. Our church teaches that each believer is to live separated lives from all worldliness (I John 2:14-17; James 1:27 & Hebrews 12:1). We are to abstain form all immoral and immodest movies, magazines and music, and also dress styles, dancing and drinking. In Romans 12:1-2 we are to BE TRANSFORMED TO CHRIST LIKENESS, NEVER CONFORMED TO FLESHLY CARNALITY. In Romans 14:19-23 we are never to do some questionable thing that may possibly cause a Christian (or even a non-Christian) to be tempted to do some old sins. Titus 2:11-12

9. Our church aggressively preaches that SOLID CHRISTIAN HOMES are the key to a strong church. Attending, ministering and financially supporting their church faithfully together, having meaningful family devotions, having fervent family prayer times, and having transparent love openly expressed in an attitude of harmony and respect is our desired norm. We want homes where Christ is preeminent and where Biblical truth is consistently practiced in everyday living. II Timothy 3:15; Colossians 3:18-21; Titus 2:2-8; Ephesians 5:21 - 6:4; I Peter 3:1-12

10. Our church preaches that we are all saved to serve (to minister), not to sit. So every believer is an aggressive “participant”; and not just a “spectator” in the spiritual service of evangelism and discipleship. Also, our church aggressively prays for and financially supports many Missionaries globally. We desire EVERY MEMBER TO BE A MISSIONARY locally, with many going on mission trips and even some becoming full-time missionaries. - Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:8, 8:4-5 & 13:1-3; Romans 1:14-16 Our fundamental church not only wants to be known as one that hates every sin, but also as one that loves every sinner as much as God does in John 3:16! We expect every one of our people to befriend and to share Calvary’s love with the people whom they rub shoulders with every day (family, friends, co-workers, neighbors & even strangers) . Each one, reach one! EVANGELISM is every believer’s business! Luke 7:34-50 & I Timothy 1:15

11. Our church aggressively teaches that our adults are to reach out to and encourage our youth, and at the same time, our youth are to fellowship with and minister to our adults. We desire all age levels to be naturally intermingling and interacting both socially and spiritually, according to Malachi 4:6 and Titus 2:2-8. Seeing TEENS AND ADULTS COMMUNICATING WITH EACH OTHER is a sign of a healthy church for future generations. Our church desires to be known as a John 13:35 church. A brotherhood (Matt. 8: 1-35) in which our people holistically are loving, sacrificially helping and encouraging each other in so many ways, their family, friends, neighbors and co-workers will want their Biblical Christianity. Loving brothers and others is the heartbeat of our church family. “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” - John 13:35

12. Our church sings and praises the Lord with uplifting CONGREGATIONAL HYMNS AND CHORUSES sung with heart stirring conviction and JOY! Contemporary worship with the rock-n-roll style and beat that appeals to one’s fallen flesh, is just worshipping “worship” (an empty emotional high). We must never allow carnality, worldliness or our sinful nature to influence church music! Ephesians 5:19; Romans 12:12 & 14:19-23

13. Our church believes the Genesis account of the six literal days of CREATION (Exodus 20:11). We also hold that Exodus 21:22-24 teaches that ABORTION is murder and that Leviticus 18:22, 20:13; Romans 1:24-28 clearly states that HOMOSEXUALITY is sinful, unnatural and not inborn.

14. Our church preaches that in I Timothy 2:9-3:12, Paul clearly commands that WOMEN CANNOT BE PASTORS AND DEACONS. Also our church teaches that in I Corinthians 12:28-31; 13:8-13; 14:1-4, 14-28 & 34 that THE CHARISMATIC “SIGN GIFTS” of tongues speakers and miracle workers ceased with the passing of the Apostles. But at the same time we firmly believe that there is miraculous and victorious power in James 5:13-16 praying!

15. Our church believes that medical Psychiatry and practical Psychology has its place in helping dysfunctional families, but BIBLICAL COUNSELING solely founded upon Biblical Truth, the life changing power of the Holy Spirit, love, confrontation, accountability and responsibility as authoritatively taught in Matthew 11:28-30; John 8:32-36; II Corinthians 1:3-5; Ephesians 4:15-6:4 and James 5:13-16 is the only long-term solution for all our personal and family problems.
